Product Information:A high-strength Saccharomyces boulardii probiotic yeast with 5 billion cfu organisms per capsule, plus added olive leaf extract, vitamin D3 and biotin.
Saccharomyces boulardii is a hardy, acid-resistant, temperature-tolerant micro-organism that is not affected by antibacterial agents or antibiotics. This yeast works as a ‘probiotic’ by colonising the intestinal tract and supporting the growth of friendly bacteria for a healthy balance of gut flora. By supporting healthy levels of gut flora, the probiotic yeast works with the vitamin D to support the immune system.
Saccharomyces boulardii is commonly used for treating and preventing dysentery and diarrhoea, including infectious types such as rotavirus diarrhoea in children, diarrhoea caused by gastrointestinal bacterial overgrowth in adults, “traveller's diarrhoea” and diarrhoea associated with tube feedings. It has also been shown to support normal gastrointestinal function during periods of dysbiosis (e.g. post antibiotic therapy).
This supplement is designed to help support the body against Candida albicans and gastrointestinal upsets; each capsule contains 250mg of the probiotic Saccharomyces Boulardii (equivalent to 5 billion colony forming units), as well as olive leaf extract (15:1, equivalent to 150mg olive leaf powder - of which 0.60mg of Oleuropein) to provide additional digestive health support.
The active herbal olive leaf extract works in harmony with the yeast probiotic to provide additional colon health and yeast balance support (including protecting against viruses and fighting Candida albicans and other gastrointestinal conditions). It also promotes immune system health and is a potent antioxidant at a cellular level, while the added nutrients (vitamin D3 and biotin) offer additional support for the immune system, inflammation response, mucous membranes and more (see below).
Ideal for use following antibiotics, travelling abroad and after colonic hydrotherapy treatments.
Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system and healthy inflammatory response, normal absorption/utilisation of calcium and phosphorus, normal blood calcium levels, the maintenance of normal bones, the maintenance of normal muscle function, the maintenance of normal teeth, it has a role in the process of cell division and is needed for normal growth and development of bone in children.
Vitamin D is a hormone-like substance that unlike other vitamins your body can manufacture under the right conditions. While obtainable from the diet, we can synthesise the levels we need when the skin is exposed to sunlight during spring and summer. Public Health England recommends everyone takes Vitamin D supplements during autumn and winter.
Biotin contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal functioning of the nervous system, normal macronutrient metabolism, normal psychological function, normal hair and skin and the maintenance of normal mucous membranes.
Studies have shown that Saccharomyces boulardii can be effective against intestinal complications and inflammatory responses brought about by the use of antibiotics, as well as by infections such as Clostridium difficile. In the same way, vitamin D contributes to inflammation response, biotin supports healthy mucous membranes and Saccharomyces Boulardii prevents pathogenic bacteria (such as E.Coli) from adhering to the intestinal walls. There is also evidence to suggest that it can be effective in preventing relapses of Crohn’s disease and treating pouchitis.
